This is one of Germany’s most beautiful bird parks. Sheltered from the noise of traffic in the
hollow of a valley, the park covers 10 hectares and is a delightful home to many birds from all over
the world. Barbary macaques, capuchin-monkeys, common marmosets and kangaroos can also be found
here. The 500m2 tropical house is home to over 200 free-flying birds from the tropical regions –
which can be visited whatever the weather. Easily accessible to everyone, the falconry centre is
located on a small hill close to the park entrance. Here the spectacular bird-of-prey demonstrations
with eagles, falcons and owls are held daily between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00p.m.
After the flight demonstrations guests have the chance to stroke an eagle owl. At 12:00 noon and
4:00 p.m. the moderated Barbary macaque feeding takes place. Guests have direct contact with Bennett
kangaroos in the kangaroo enclosure. The joeys are carried in their mother’s pouch for around 280
days. Visitors can learn all about the native world of birds in the birdhouse, and in the egg watch
incubators visitors can witness the chicks hatching live every day. In the new accessible parakeet
enclosure guests are surrounded by a variety of colourful parakeets. At the edge of the park are the
large play and adventure area, the petting area with African goats, an outdoor restaurant, picnic
areas and huts. For groups the bird park provides two coffee and snack bars, each with 100 seats.
You can spend a whole eventful day in the bird park. Extra programmes, park tours, falconry seminars
and biology instruction with exciting topics for school classes are offered regularly. In the new
film room, visitors can learn about the work that takes place behind the scenes of the bird park.
Introductory falconry classes are offered on Fridays. The special falconry taster courses for
children under 12 are a special experience and fun for all children and their companions. They take
place on Wednesdays between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and also make an ideal present. If required we
can also host children’s birthday parties and special programmes.
